If your Spring or Summer 2020 wedding has been postponed, we feel your pain, but luckily it looks like you could be able to tie the knot sooner than originally projected with an autumn or winter wedding at the end of 2020 or beginning of 2021. If you have taken the decision to transform your sunny nuptials into a winter wonderland wedding, we’ve got some great tips for you.
Wrapping Up Warmer For Your Wedding
One of the biggest differences with a winter wedding, is the weather and the temperature. With your day taking more of an icier edge, it would be a good idea to get creative with your original wedding dress plans, unless you don’t mind catching a cold in your sleeveless gown. A great winter wedding dress accessory that is popular amongst modern brides is a short shoulder cape, usually made of faux fur, with bridesmaid capes to match. If a cape isn’t your thing you could always replace the dress completely, or have it altered to include sleeves, which is an alteration many great dress designers would be happy to accommodate given the circumstances.
A Change In Decor?
Your once bright summer wedding theme, may be something you want to alter to suit the time of year. If you are looking for theme ideas and colours, warm tones and metallics like gold and bronze are very fitting for a winter wedding. Fairy lights are a great way to soften your colour and layout whilst warming up your evening party when it will be dark instead of the light summer evening you would have originally had planned.
A lot of summer floral arrangements feature bright corals, pinks and yellows, which might not be something you want to incorporate into your winter wedding. If you had a popular botanical floral arrangement of whites and greens that can still work no problem, but if you want it to be a bit more season appropriate you could add some dark tones to your floral arrangement, for example dark reds or dark pinks.
